It was truly an epic gala night to remember especially to every flutist and musician involved in the first ever Asean Korea Flute Festival held Friday, December 1 at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater in RCBC Plaza, Makati.
In his Keynote Speech, Philippine National Artist for Music and Artistic Director Dr. Ramon P. Santos shared that this idea and concept was all thanks to Festival Director Qing Lun Tan who two years ago in another local musical gathering thought of why not put together the various ethnic instruments from different Asian nations in a way sharing their musical attributes.
In a way, this grand flute festival was an experimental collaboration among the involved countries therefore creating a new musical expression highlighted in this concert.

All 44 guest artists were in their elements as they performed before an eager and curious crowd. Â
The darkened stage slowly lit up and opened with the rendition of "Fireflies" by Qing Lun Tan where the main flutists and the rest of the musicians slowly made their way to the stage. The melodies quickly transports one to the forest eventually anticipating on a Firefly Festival galore setting the perfect mood of what lie ahead....musically-speaking.Â
